MY BRIDE IS A YOUNG THING. Irish, Reel (whole time). A Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "My Bride is a Young Thing" is a member of the extremely large and varied "Haughs of Cromdale (The)" tune family. For more information see annotation under "Haughs of Cromdale". Goodman researchers Hugh and Lisa Shields compare another of Goodman's reels, "Pretty Girls of Gorey (The)" in Book 3 (no. 136a), with "My Bride..." See also County Mayo farmer and fiddler Philip Carolan's (c. 1839-1910) "New Bank of Ireland (The)" for another cognate member of the "Haughs of Cromdale (The)" tune family that is fairly comparable to Goodman's 'Bride' tune.
