This and other "St. Vincents" or "Vincent's" titles honor Admiral Wikipedia:John Jervis,_1st_Earl_of_St_Vincent_(1735-1823), a contemporary of the celebrated Lord Horatio Nelson's and himself a hero of the Napoleonic Wars and the victor of the Battle of Cape St. Vincent. "Earl St. Vincent's Hornpipe" is contained in the large c. 1850 music manuscript collection of Manchester, England, musician biography:John Roose, who also included a version called "Bridgewater Hornpipe" in his ms. collection.
