I'M O'ER YOUNG TO MARRY YET [2]. AKA and see "I'm Ow're Young, "Limerick Races," "Not too Young to Marry yet." Scottish, Strathspey. D Major (Cole): F Major (Hardings). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Im O'er Young to Marry Yet (2)" was entered into the 1850 music manuscript of shoemaker and fiddler William Winter, of Bagborough, Somerset, southwest England, set in 6/8 time, a translation of the dotted strathspey rhythm by a musician unfamiliar with the Scottish form. Boston publisher Elias Howe printed the tune in 2/4 time in his section of Irish Airs as "Limerick Races" in Musician's Omnibus No. 3 (1866, p. 220). Set as a reel, the tune was in the repertoire of church-band flute player Michael Harris of Cornwall, England, under the title "Not too Young to Marry yet."
