REEL DE GASPE [2]. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. "Reel de Gaspé [2]" was a tune in the repertoire of fiddler André Alain (1931-2000) of St-Basile-de-Portneuf. It is very similar and perhaps cognate with the Irish "Concert Reel (4) (The)" (AKA "Now She's Purring"), in the repertory of several mid-20th century fiddlers in Munster under various names. How it might have come into Mr. Alain's repertory is unknown.
