"Caillette est Crevee" is attributed to Cajun fiddler Wade Fruge. John Beland points out the the fiddle was frequently tuned down a step to accommodate accordions, which in Cajun style playing are typically in the keys of 'C' and 'G'. Thus a tune fingered in 'D' on the fiddle would sound in the key of 'C'.
