WHIDDON'S HORNPIPE. English, Scottish, American; Hornpipe. B Flat Major (most versions): G Major (Miller). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The second strain is something of a ‘floater,’ similar to the first strain of “Norfolk Hornpipe (1)” printed in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (c. 1883) and credited to W.H. Whiddon. The first strain is also similar to that of “Wily Old Bachelor (The).”
