HIGHLAND FLING [3]. AKA and see "Marquis of Huntly's Highland Fling (1) (The)," "Ril ath threasna." Scottish, Fling (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is cognate (albeit with parts reversed) with the Irish reel "Ril ath threasna," which is also played as a slide in Ciarrai Luachra. "Highland Fling" in County Cork uilliann piper Canon James Goodman's music manuscript collection (No. 951, volume 4, p. 21) is cognate (albeit parts are reversed).
