INDIANS OVER THE HILL. AKA - "Indians are Over the Hill (The)." Old-Time, Breakdown. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Sourced to John Scotland Hannah, who made his living as a coffin maker. Hannah was born in Logan County, West Virginia, but was collected at his home in later life in Columbus, Ohio. His grandfather was originally Eastern Kentucky, and migrated to West Virginia sometime around the 1870's. According to Kerry Blech, Hannah's grandfather taught the tune "Lost Indian" to Ed Haley when Haley was a young man.
