MRS. KENNEDY OF GRENNAN. Scottish, Reel (cut time). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Ayrshire fiddler-composer biography:John Riddell's 1766 first collection (p. 58), printed in Edinburgh by Robert Bremner. It was also included in Riddell's second collection of 1782, an expansion and elaboration of the first, printed in Glasgow by James Aird.

The Kennedys of Greenan were an Ayrshire family. Greenan Castle is situated on a rock overhanging the sea, about two miles from the town of Ayr. At the time of publication of Riddell's volumes it was in the possession of Robert Kennedy of Greenan, a descendent of the Kennedys of Cassilis. He died sometime around 1798.
