KARO. AKA and see "Roscoe Trillion" (Ga.), "Flop Eared Mule (1)," "Johnnie (Johnny) Karo";(?). Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Texas, Tennessee. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A version of the tune more familiarly known as "Flop Eared Mule". It may be named for the Mississippi River town "Cairo," which sounds like 'kay-row' in pronunciation. One of four tunes recorded by 77 yr. old Tennessee fiddler Uncle Jimmy Thompson [1] (1848-1931) for Columbia in 1926; only two, including this one, were released. Thompson was born in Baxter, Smith County, Tennessee.
