KELSO VOLUNTEERS QUICKSTEP. Scottish, March (6/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Published in 1799 by Thomas Calvert, a musician from Kelso, Scotland. A note with the collection states that Calvert supplied "a variety of music and instruments, instruments lent out, tun'd and repaired." The Volunteer regiments were formed in England at the beginning of the 19th century in response to the threat of invasion by Napoleon.
