MISSISSIPPI LOWDOWN. Old-Time, Country Blues. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. The tune was recorded by African-American guitarist Walter Vinson (or Vincson, or Vincent, although the name he used for the recording was Walter Jacobs), with The Carter Brothers (guitarist Bo Chatman and fiddler Lonnie Chatman). The tune is an up-tempo instrumental version of another tune by Chatmon's group, the Mississippi Sheiks, called "Lonely One In This Town."
