MITCHELL CLOG. Old-Time, Breakdown. The name of a tune learned by Randolph County, W. Va., fiddler Woody Simmons (b. 1911) from a local mentor Wren McGee. “He was, along about them days, a champion fiddler. He lived on McGee Run and played the fiddle” (Mountains of Music, John Lilly ed., 1999, p. 15).
