Cottillon la Promenade
COTILLON LA PROMENADE. AKA and see "The King of Denmark's Favourite, "Promenade." English (originally), American; Jig. England, Northumberland. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. The melody appears in a publication entitled 24 Country Dances printed in London in 1769. In America, it appears in Henry Beck's German flute MS of 1786. At least one editor notes that in places the melody bears a resemblance to the Irish set dance melody "Sweets of May."
