LONG NOTE, THE. Irish, Single Jig or Slide (12/8 time). D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BC. A slide version of the first two parts of "Jenny's Welcome to Charlie." It was the theme song of an influential Monday night RTE program, also called The Long Note, in the 1970's and was thus popularized in the repertoire.
