MARCH TO THE BATTLEFIELD. Scottish, Irish; Pipe March or Polka (2/4 time). D Major. The march was popular in the 19th century, particularly as a pipe march, and appears in the pipe collections of David Glen, William Ross, and William Logan. An early version was printed by New York publisher Edward Riley in his Flute Melodies, vol. 4 (1826). The Irish children's song "Rattlin' Bog (The)" or "Bog Down in the Valley (The)" employs a version of the tune.
