MOTHER'S DELIGHT (Aoibhneas na Máthar). AKA and see "Brian Boru's March (1)," "Cameronian Reel (3) (The)," "Dan the Cobbler," "Sean Frank." Irish, Reel. Ireland, County Donegal. D Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Breathnach): AABB (Taylor). A popular reel in County Donegal. The tune was recorded under this title by Paddy Glackin on his first LP, played on the viola. See also related "Colonel McBain" (upon which this tune may have been based), and "Malloy's Favorite." The tune transcribed from the playing of Donegal fiddler John Doherty and mistakenly called the "Cameronian Reel" in Feldman & O'Doherty's book The Northern Fiddler is actually "The Mother's Delight" (see note for "Annotation:Cameronian Reel (3) (The)").
