MISS JANE TYTLER'S FAVOURITE. Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title perhaps refers to one Jane Tytler (1788-1852), was the daughter of Lieut.-Colonel Patrick Tytler, a soldier who saw distinguished service in the American War of Independence, in Flanders and in Ireland during the rebellion. Jane was the spouse of James Erskine of Aberdona, Clackmannanshire, whom she married around 1811. Her long-lived father outlasted her husband, and died in his daughter's home at Aberdona in 1849, while Jane died on the 10th November, 1852, aged 64 years. See also "Miss Tytler's Strathspey," also in Pringle's 1801 collection.
