CHATSWORTH HOUSE. English, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. The melody was originally published in Thompson's Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances. Chatsworth, Derbyshire, is an Anglo-Saxon name meaning 'Ceatt's farm.' Chatsworth Castle is in Derbyshire and is the home of the dukes of Devonshire near Blakewell in the Peak District. The original mansion was started in 1549 by Sir William Cavendish at the urging of his wife Bess of Hardwick. The present house was constructed between 1687 and 1707.
