CONCERT REEL [4], THE. AKA and see "Callaghan's Reel (3)," "Denis Murphy's Reel (1)," "Doon Reel (4) (The)," "Now She's Purring," "O'Callaghan's Reel." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Philippe Varlet says that Kerry fiddler Denis Murphy recorded it under the title "The Doon" on a 78 RPM recorded in the United States in the 1940's (there are several tunes with that title, however). Later Murphy gave the title for the tune as "Now She's Purring" by which name it appeared in the magazine Treoir in 1975. Martin Mulvihill noted in his collection that Kerry fiddler Padraig O'Keeffe, Murphy's tutor, called the tune "Now She's Purring" (although this may simply have been O'Keeffe's comment of satisfaction when the music "hit the groove.").
