NOON LASSES, THE (Gearrchailí na Nóna). AKA - "Noon Lassies." AKA and see "Loon Lasses (The)," "East Clare Reel (The)." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. In County Clare the tune is played as a set dance, says editor Jackie Small (CRÉ V). The reel is a variant of the popular and widespread (in its many variants) "Lord MacDonald (4)."

Printed sources: Breathnach (CRÉ V), 1999; No. 119, p. 61.

Recorded sources: Cló Iar-Chonnachta CICD 110, Chris Droney - "The Fertile Rock." Gael-Linn CEFCD 175, Colm Murphy - "The Bodhrán." Ossian OSS 69, Cathal McConnell - "On Lough Erne's Shore" (learned from the Gunn family. A reissue of the Topic album). Reel Records ReelCD 001, Paul Smyth "Up and Away."
