NEW TOWN BRIDGE. AKA and see "Bellharbour (2) (The)," "Mulhaire's Reel," "Rough Road (Th)," "Sailor's Farewell (The)." Irish, Reel. The reel is often attributed to Paddy O'Brien, who did compose a jig called "Newtown Bridge," however, it is a composition of Irish musician Chris Droney, of Bellharbour, Co. Clare, who called it "The Bellharbour Reel." According to Don Meade, the confusion stems from the first recording by the group Trian (Billy McComiskey, Liz Carroll, Daithi Sproule) in which it was miss-labled and miss-attributed to O'Brien.
