OVER LAND AND SEA. American, Jig. E Minor ('A' part) & D Mixolydian ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composition credited to one J. Hand in Ryan's Mammoth Collection. New York City writer, researcher and musician Don Meade believes this refers to one of two fiddler brothers, James and Johnny Hand, active in the Massachusetts area in the mid-19th century, to whom several tunes in the collection are attributed. Awkward.
