HORNLESS COW [1], THE (An Bó Maol). AKA and see "Funny Days of Easter (The)," "One-Horned Cow (The)." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850): AA'BB' (O'Neill/Krassen). Conor Ward finds the reel in the music manuscript collection of Francis Reynolds of Gaigue, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford, compiled in the last quarter of the 19th century. "His version is similar to the one synonymous with the flute player John Blessing of Aughavas, Co. Leitrim," states Connor, "Given the proximity of Blessing to Gaigue, the title in the manuscript was probably the one used in the region by local musicians."
