WANDERING BOY. Old Time, Air (4/4 time). USA, western North Carolina. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is sourced to the 1927 solo fiddle recording of Dobson, Surry County, North Carolina, fiddler and banjo player Frank Jenkins (1888-c.1945) of the group Da Costa Woltz's Southern Broadcasters. The Carter Family recorded a song called "Wandering Boy," but it employs a different melody.
