PETERHEAD POLKA, THE. Scottish, Polka. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB (Hardie): ABB'CC (Hunter). Composed by William Stephen of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, and originally published as a piano solo. Peterhead was where James, the Old Pretender, first landed in Scotland in 1715, and in the 19th century it was a leading point of departure (along with Dundee) for ships from the Scottish whaling industry.
