WELLINGTON’S BUGLE. English, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. One of many tunes patterned after the intervals of a bugle to imitate martial music. The title, of course, honors the Duke of Wellington, victor at Waterloo. Gibbons originally set the tune in the key of ‘C’ major.

Source for notated version: the 1823-26 music mss of papermaker and musician Joshua Gibbons (1778-1871, of Tealby, near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire Wolds) [Sumner].
