LONG COLD NIGHTS. English, Air (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody was printed by Henry Playford in Apollo's Banquet [1] (1690) under the "Long Cold Nights" title. Northumbrian musician Henry Atkinson entered a version not long afterwards in his c. 1694 music copybook as "The Flower of Yarrow." Both tunes are a version of "Sir John Fenwick's the Flower among Them All."
