PLANXTY DOBBINS (Pleraca Dobain). AKA and see "John O'Reilly (1)," "Molly Carew," “Planxty Reilly," "Wandering Bard (The).” (1). Irish, Air or Planxty (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). The tune appears as “Planxty Reilly” in Belfast musician and collector Edward Bunting’s first and second collections (1796 and 1809, respectively). O'Neill (1903) printed the tune twice, as "Planxty Reilly" and the incorrect title, "Planxty Dobbins." See note for "annotation:John O'Reilly (1)" for more.

Source for notated version: Chicago fiddler John McFadden, who had his version from David Quinn, a famous piper from Mayo [O’Neill].

Printed sources: O'Neill (Krassen), 1976; p. 235. O'Neill (Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies), 1903; No. 661, p. 119.
