Tune properties and standard notation
DIOMOLADH PIOB DHÒMHNAILL BHÀIN (Dis-Praise of Fair Donald's Bagpipe). Canadian, Scottish; Jig. Canada, Nova Scotia. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Piper Barry Shears says the tune is similar to a 6/8 pipe march called "Gathering of the Herds," in the late 19th century David Glen Collection, Book 9. The tune is from the c. 1915 music manuscript collection of Captain Angus J. MacNeil, piper who lived at Gillis Point, Cape Breton. A song composed by John MacCodrum, from North Uist, shares the same title and may be a related melody, suggests Shears.
