DUCHESS OF BUCCLEUGH [3]. AKA and see "Shoemaker's Daughter (1), "Souter's Daughter (The)." Scottish, Strathspey. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Glen (1891) finds the earliest printing of the tune in Angus Cumming's 1780 collection (p. 4), however the tune had earlier appeared in Neil Stewart's Collection of the Newest and Best Reels &c. (1761) as "Souter's Daughter (The)." A version of the tune was used as the air to poet Robert Burns's song "Wilt Thou be My Dearie" printed in Johnson's Scots Musical Museum, vol. 5 (1797).
