RAHEEN REEL [3]. AKA and see “Murphy's Reel (3).” AKA – “Dingle Reel (The).” Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB. From the Murphy Family, recorded with fiddler Kevin Burke on “Up Close” (1984), as the third tune of the “Raheen Reels”. Phil Murphy heard the tune at an early 1970’session during the "Fleadh Ceol" in Listowel, Co. Kerry. Phil’s son John believes that his father called the reel after the musicians whom he heard play it, who were from the Dingle (Co. Kerry) area. Fiddler Séamus Connolly & Laurel Martin print the tune in their book as “Murphy’s.”
