RAKE’S MARCH, THE. AKA and see "Jackson's Babby," "Jackson's Babes," "Lanamacree," "Leanbh Mo Chroí," "Tanning the Leather." Irish, March (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Rakes March" was entered into the mid-19th music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric Rev. James Goodman. The jig appears under the title "Jackson's Babby" in the c. 1865 Gunn Manuscript collection from County Fermanagh, while the variant "Tanning the Leather" is to be found in the Rice-Walsh manuscript.
