MISS FLEMING OF MONESS. AKA - "Miss Flemyng of Moness’s Strathspey." AKA and see "Killiechassie," "Mrs. Stewart Fleming of Killiechassie." Scottish, Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Robert Stewart of Killiechassie married Emilia Fleming of Moness and assumed her name. She was the daughter and heiress of Robert Fleming of Moness, by his wife Emilia, younger daughter of Captain James Menzies of Comrie. Robert Stewart-Fleming sold Moness in 1787 to the Earl of Breadalbane, which perhaps helps to date this strathspey, as thereafter the Stewart-Flemings were only proprietors of Killiechassie, Perthshire.
