MISS STEWART OF FOSS' REEL. Scottish, Reel (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by fiddler-composer biography:Duncan McKercher, the "Dunkeld Paganini." Speculatively, McKercher's 'Miss Stewart of Foss' may have been Margaret, daughter of Joseph Stewart Menzies, Esq. of Foss, Perthshire, who, in Edinburgh in 1833 married the Rev. A.R. Irvine, minister of Foss. McKercher also composed "Mr. Alexander Irvine's Strathspey" and thus may have composed a tune for each of the couple.
