LAMENT FOR SIR HARRY NIVEN LUMSDEN, BARONET OF ACHINDOIR. Scottish, Air ("Slow and Pathetic"). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833) of Keithmore, near Fochabers, Banffshire. Sir Harry Niven Lumsden had the good fortune to inherit the estate of Clova from a rich uncle (Cowie, The Life and Times of William Marshall, 1999). Lumsden married Harriet Christian Leith, daughter of Alexander Leith-Hay (1758-1838) of Rannes and Leith Hall, "General Sandie".
