DRUNKEN PIPER [3], THE. English, Dance Tune (9/8 time). England, Northumberland. An unusually-timed 9/8 piece whose measures are three pairs of eighth notes and one group of three eighth notes. The tune was the vehicle for Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick's song "Byker Hill," first recorded on Swarbrick's 1967 album "Byker Hill." (subsequently reissued and re-recorded by the pair several times).
