RIPPELS, THE. English, Country Dance Tune & Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was first published (with directions for a country dance) by London publisher John Walsh, in his Third Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master (1735), printed again in his Compleat Country Dancing-Master. Volume the Sixth (1754). It was also published by John Johnson in [Daniel] Wright's Compleat Collection of Celebrated Country Dances (1740, p. 66).
