RIDING ON A LOAD OF HAY. AKA and see “Mrs. Ramsay of Barnton (2).” Irish, Polka. E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Silberberg): AABB' (Carlin). A West Kerry polka, called “Port Dalaig (4)" after the musician who played it, is similar, especially in the ‘A’ part. The tune was in the repertoire of Kerry fiddler Denis Murphy. It appears to be an adaptation of the Scottish strathspey “Miss Ramsay of Barnton (2),” printed in the Athole Collection (1884).
