DOUG MACMASTER'S. AKA and see "Fancy (The)." Canadian, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. Paul Cranford wrote that he thought it likely the tune had an Irish provenance, and it is a version of the Irish "Gypsy Hornpipe (7)" or "Dan Sullivan's Favorite". However, it was also printed in Scotland in W.B. Laybourn's Köhlers’ Violin Repository Book 1 (1881, p. 67) as "Fancy (The)." The Canadian arrangement and title, Cranford says, comes from a 1958 solo recording by MacMaster at the home of Doug and Peg MacMaster.
