LOVE AND OPPORTUNITY. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Love and Opportunity" was advertised in a performance bill for Sadler's Wells for Monday, June 2, 1788, as "A new dance, called Love and Opportunity. By Mr. Holland, Mr. Dubois, and Mons. Boi-Maison, Miss Brouguier, and Miss Bithmere." The melody also appears in the music manuscript collection of English musician John Rook (Waverton, Cumbria, 1840).
