ROBINSON CRUSOE. AKA - "Robinson Cruso." English, Country Dance and Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody with instructions for a country dance appears in London publishers Longman, Broderip & Lukey's Bride's Favourite Collection of 200 Select Country Dances, Cotillons (1776) and later in Samuel, Ann & Peter Thompson's Compleat Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 5 (1788). In the next century New York publisher Edward Riley included it in his Riley's Flute Melodies Vol. 2 (1817).
