BARLEY GRAIN [3], THE. Irish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody was entered into the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric, uilleann piper and collector James Goodman. Hugh and Lisa Shields note that the 2nd strain is shared with "Knocknaboul Polka" (Polca Chnoc na bPoll), and note resemblance to "Gregg's Pipes."
