A. JARDINE'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Annandale fiddler-composer biography:James Porteous." The tune is contained in the large 1840 music manuscript collection (p. 223) of multi-instrumentalist John Rook of Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria. The Jardine family were landowners who held vast estates in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
