BOYS FROM SCART, THE (Na Buacaillí ua Scairt). Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The name Scart comes from the Irish scairt, meaning a place of bushes or thickets. There are several Scarts in Ireland, notes P.W. Joyce, "although only in the Munster counties and Kilkenny." The tune appears as "Coquette (1)" in Scottish publisher James Kerr's Merry Melodies (c. 1880's). See also the Canadian version "Farmer's Reel (1)."
