NED PUGH'S GRAND-DAUGHTER. AKA - "Fair Ellen Pugh," "Wyres Ned Puw. Welsh, Air (2/4 and 3/8 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). In 1845 John Thomas wrote words to the air, for a song called "Fair Ellen Pugh.," printed in his Y CXamiedydd Cymreig/The Cambrian Minstrel. The composer Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) set the air "Wyres Ned Puw" in 1804 as one of his English and Welsh song settings (Hob. Xxxib:19).
