ENCHANTED VALLEY [1] (An Gleann Draoideacta). Irish, "Very Slow" Air (2/4 time). G Dorian (O'Neill): E Minor (Stanford/Petrie). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Stanford (1902) notes this is a variant of "Oh fair John my love." Donegal fiddler and music researcher Caoimhin Mac Aoidh is of the opionion that the tune was likely composed by Francis O'Neill's collaborator Sgt. James O'Neill (no relation), a musically literate fiddler from County Down.

Source for notated version: "set from Mary O'Malley, Arran More, Sept 9th, 1857 [Stanford/Petrie]; J. O'Neill [O'Neill], referring to Chicago Police Sergeant and fiddler James O'Neill, originally from County Down, who was Francis O'Niell's collaborator on his earlier volumes.
