SIEGE OF ENNIS [2], THE. AKA - "Siege of Ennis (The)." Irish, Set Dance (2/4 time). D Major ('A', 'B','E', and 'F' parts) & G Major ('C' and 'D' parts). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEEFF. The first parts of the tune are recognizable as the melody popularly sung to “High-Ho, the Rattlin’ Bog” (“The Bog Down in the Valley-O”) while the next two parts are the Scottish tune “Farewell to Whiskey (1),” followed by the tune used for “Spanish Lady.” Since the “Siege of Ennis” is the name of a dance rather than a tune, several tunes have been employed as vehicles for the steps.
