COAL MINE BLUES. Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, Alabama. Composed by Ala. fiddler Charlie Stripling (1896-1966) when he began playing for dances in the mining camps of Walker County, Alabama. "The tune was very popular among the miners who inspired it" (Cauthen, p. 113).
