BOLL OF BEAR. AKA and see "Bowl of Bigg." Scottish. The melody appears in the Gillespie Manuscript (1768). 'Boll of Bear' means 'a measure of barley'. The tune is given as "Bowl of Bigg" in William Vickers' 1770 Northumbrian music manuscript collection.
